Strugglers’ Christmas Party at Lord Stanley Hotel
The Strugglers Christmas party will be held Tuesday 8 Dec 6.30pm at Lord Stanley’s Hotel. Merv has asked if you could all please bring a Christmas Haiku. Wikipedia states “Haiku is a type of short form of poetry originally from Japan. Traditional Japanese haiku consist of three phrases that contain a kireji, or “cutting word”, 17 on in a 5, 7, 5 pattern, and a kigo, or seasonal reference. However, modern haiku vary widely on how closely they follow these traditional elements.” For example, “Christmas day, Christ is born, As every child.” Or: “Tell the story, Be the Story, Live the Story.” Please note that English Haiku does not have to follow the 5/7/5 syllable rule. No one is to stay at home because of costs, as there is a Strugglers fund to cover this. Please let Clare know by 6 December if you would like to come for booking purposes.
