SUMMARY:Strugglers’ Christmas Party at Lord Stanley Hotel
DESCRIPTION:The Strugglers Christmas party will be held Tuesday 8 Dec 6.30pm at Lord Stanley’s Hotel. Merv has asked if you could all please bring a Christmas Haiku. Wikipedia states “Haiku is a type of short form of poetry originally from Japan. Traditional Japanese haiku consist of three phrases that contain a kireji\, or “cutting word”\, 17 on in a 5\, 7\, 5 pattern\, and a kigo\, or seasonal reference. However\, modern haiku vary widely on how closely they follow these traditional elements.” For example\, “Christmas day\, Christ is born\, As every child.” Or: “Tell the story\, Be the Story\, Live the Story.” Please note that English Haiku does not have to follow the 5/7/5 syllable rule. No one is to stay at home because of costs\, as there is a Strugglers fund to cover this. Please let Clare know by 6 December if you would like to come for booking purposes. \n
